With 12 new members of the roster and less than 40 total varsity minutes of experience returning from last season, it was a new-look LM team taking the floor for the first time on Saturday. Despite their youth (LM started a freshman and three sophomores) and relative lack of experience, the Aces passed their first test, beating Abington 61-55 at the Fred Pickett Classic at Chester High School.
LM led throughout the contest and by as many as 15 in the second half, before the Ghosts mounted a comeback to pull within six in the closing minutes.
Sam Brown '23 led all scorers with 19 points in his first varsity action. James Simples '20 added 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and a soaring block in the final minutes that effectively ended Abington's final run.
After the game, Aces alumnus Yohanny Dalembert '13 greeted the team before heading off to France to continue his pro career. His Aces teammate and fellow "twin tower," Darryl Reynolds '12, earned his first victory as an Aces assistant.
LM takes on Haverford Tuesday night at Haverford in both squads Central League opener.
