The Aces answered another tough test on Sunday, beating District 1 power Methacton 51-47 at the Pete and Jameer Nelson Play By Play Classic. Josh Martin '19 and Steve Payne '19 led the way with 15 points apiece. Martin added 11 rebounds and three blocks and earned game MVP honors. Darryl Taylor '19 also reached double figures, finishing with ten points and eight rebounds.

LM played some of its best basketball of the season in the first half, building a 14-point lead by the end of the second frame. Martin and Taylor were particularly active and the Aces scorched Methacton in transition. In one sequence, Martin blocked a Warriors shot, threw a quick outlet to Payne on the left sideline who immediately hit a streaking Taylor in the front court for a soaring layup. The bucket gave the Aces their first double-digit lead at 31-21 and forced a Methacton timeout.

The second half was a different story as the Aces struggled to score, but LM made enough plays on the defensive end to hold off a late Methacton comeback. Matt O'Connor '19 had perhaps the play of the game, taking a charge with the Aces holding a late three point lead to secure possession and help seal the win. Taylor and Theo Henry '19 iced the game at the line, combining to hit five of six free throws down the stretch.

The Aces conclude 2018 with an 8-1 record, a notable accomplishment given injuries to key players throughout the first month of the season. LM returns to action Friday at 7 against Ridley.
