Matt O'Connor came up clutch in the Aces win.

LM used consecutive threes by Steve Payne '19 and Matt O'Connor '19 late in the fourth quarter to break open a tie game and stellar foul shooting down the stretch to hold off Chester 59-55. It was the first contest between the two historic rivals at LM's Bryant Gymnasium. The Aces and Clippers squared off at Chester's home gym for the first time last season, also an Aces win.

After the two teams went scoreless for nearly four minutes at the start of the game, the Aces got on track and built a nine-point lead by halftime. Chester roared back in the third and took a three-point lead early in the final frame. But a veteran Aces squad kept its compsure, using contributions from multiple players to make a final, decisive run and pull out the victory.

Theo Henry '19 led the way with a career-high 19 points. Payne added 16 points and shot 8-9 from the foul line. O'Connor (9 points) and Julian Hairston (8 points) also came up big on offense.

It wasn't always pretty, but it was a another hard-fought, spirited battle in an historic rivalry. The Aces have now won three straight against Chester dating back to the 2013 state title game.
