The Aces stormed back from an 11-point deficit with three minutes to play in regulation and outlasted Garnet Valley in double-overtime 80-76.
Steve Payne '19 had 11 of his game-high 28 points during LM's improbable fourth quarter comeback, including the game-tying basketball with less than nine seconds to play.
Payne was one of a number of Aces who came up clutch: Julian Hairston '19 had a career-high 15 points and drilled four second-half treys; Theo Henry '19 iced the game with six straight free throws in the second overtime and finished with a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds), a huge Matt O'Connor ’19 three brought LM back from a three-point hole with just under two minutes to play; Darryl Taylor '19 (12 points) drained two big threes and teamed with Payne and Jalen Goodman '19 to turn the tide with late defensive pressure.
It was an epic, refuse-to-lose performance to close out a difficult season-opening six-game road swing. LM finally returns to Bryant Gym this Friday for the home opener against Conestoga.
