Steve Payne '19 scored a career-high 30 points and the Aces put up a spirited fight, but couldn't overcome state-contender Norristown at the Diane Mosco Foundation Showcase — falling 71-61 on Saturday.
Playing some of their best basketball of the season, LM surged to a five-point lead in the second quarter and led 32-30 at halftime. Things remained tight through the end of the third quarter, before Norristown used consecutive steals to build a five-point lead heading into the final frame. In the fourth, the Eagles used timely threes and solid free throw shooting to keep the Aces at bay. LM had an uncharacteristically cold day from the foul line (11-20) and three-point line; Norristown sank a season-high 11 shots from beyond the arc.
Darryl Taylor '19 added 12 points and Matt O'Connor had 11 points to join Payne in double-figures.
The Aces return to action for their sixth consecutive road game Tuesday at Garnet Valley at 7.
