The Aces used a 15-2 first half run to break open a tight game and never looked back in a 56-30 romp at Haverford. Thirteen Aces saw action and nine entered the scoring column, but the story of the night was defense.
After falling behind 8-4 in the opening minutes, LM unleashed a swarming, full-court press and forced the Fords into turnovers on six of their next seven possessions. A steal by Steve Payne '19 led to a dunk by Terrell Jones '17, giving LM its first lead at 9-8. LM would never trail again.
LM limited Haverford to just five second quarter points and ended the half with a 25-13 advantage after a Matt O'Connor '19 three-pointer at the buzzer.
The Aces continued to pile on after the break, allowing just four points in the third quarter. LM also found their stroke, knocking down seven threes in the second half. The Aces would eventually come away with a 26-point win, their largest margin of victory this season.
It was an impressive defensive outing and an all-around team effort. That effort will need to be on display in the KBG this weekend as the Aces have a big match-up Friday night at 7 with Central League powerhouse Strath Haven, followed by a battle with state-ranked Carlisle on Saturday at 4:15 PM in the Kobe Bryant Classic.
