The Aces extended their win streak to four games as they took down Springfield, 69-57 Thursday night.
The Aces got off to a slow start, trailing 11-8 at the end of the first quarter. LM picked up the intensity in the second quarter, moving the ball and getting good shots. The Aces outscored Springfield 19-10 in the second frame before eventually going into halftime with a 27-21 lead.
LM continued to build on the lead in the third quarter, applying pressure and forcing Springfield into backcourt turnovers. LM's perimeter shooting also improved, with Jack Forrest '19, Matt O'Connor '19 and Steve Payne '19 drilling threes in the period. The Aces went into the fourth quarter with a 46-34 advantage and led by as many as 15 en route to victory.
Forrest and Payne exploded for 22 and 20 points to lead the way, while Terrell Jones ’17 added 19 points of his own. All three got to the rim effectively and finished well against a solid Springfield opponent. Other contributions came from Noah Fennell ’17 (2 points), Harrison Klevan ’18 (1 point), Theo Henry ’19 (2 points) and O’Connor (3 points).
This was a big win for the Aces against a Springfield team that has been playing well in the Central League this season. The Aces face a tough stretch of games this week, with a trip to Haverford on Wednesday night, a match-up with Strath Haven at home on Friday and a battle on Saturday with state-ranked Carlisle in the Kobe Bryant Classic at LM.
