The Aces will host the 3rd Annual Hope Classic benefiting the Angelman?s Syndrome Foundation and Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics this Friday night at Bryant Gymnasium. The evening features a double-header between LM and Harriton beginning with the varsity girls at 6 PM, followed by the boys at 7:30 PM.
Six years ago, Aces? assistant coach Kevin Grugan?s daughter, Hope, was diagnosed with Angelman?s Syndrome (AS), a neurogenetic disorder that occurs in one of every 15,000 live births. Characteristics of AS include developmental delay, lack of speech, seizures and walking and balance disorders.
Hope is a beautiful, amazing girl and an inspiration to all who know her. Friday?s games will honor her remarkable progress and raise critical funds and awareness for two of the largest non-governmental funders of AS-specific research. Their work has helped bring forth new discoveries that give hope for therapies and ultimately a cure for Angelman's Syndrome.
The Hope Classic will be broadcast live beginning around 5:50 PM on Comcast Channel 22, Verizon Fios Channel 36 and Facebook Live on the Aces Basketball FB page. The game will also be streaming live on the school district website lmsd.org.
