The Aces delivered one of their most complete performances of the season on Thursday, rolling Upper Darby 73-47. LM opened its first double-digit lead early in the second quarter and never looked back, handing the Royals their most lopsided loss of the year.
The Aces used a patient and balanced offensive attack to score in a variety of ways. Jeremy Horn ?17 (13 points), Eli Needle?16 (7 points) and Dion Harris ?17 (7 points) combined for 27 points in the paint and patrolled the glass against a talented Upper Darby frontline. KJ Helton ?16 (8 points) and Terrell Jones ?17 (14 points) attacked from the perimeter, drilling mid-range jumpers, getting to the rim and finding teammates for open looks. Noah Fennell ?17 had another strong outing from beyond the arc and netted a team-high 18 points.
Najja Walker-X ?17 (2 points), Steve Payne ?19 (2 points) and Sean Ryan ?17 (2 points) rounded out the scoring, with Ryan notching his first varsity points. Zack Magill ?16 provided capable ball handling and energetic defensive play, taking a charge and coming up with a number of loose balls.
It was a convincing, all-around team effort against a dangerous opponent. The winning formula ? unselfish play, high energy and strong defense ? is a necessary one if the Aces hope to keep things rolling in a strong Central League.
LM returns to action on Saturday at 6:30 PM at Springfield.
