The best deal this holiday season may just be a ticket to an Aces game. For the third straight game, fans got more than their money's worth -- with LM rallying for yet another overtime victory. This time, the Aces overcame an eight-point halftime deficit and clawed their way to a 68-63 win over Shipley.
Terrell Jones '17 scored a career-high 34 points, including 15 points from the foul line. Dion Harris '17 gave the Aces a big lift late, scoring all nine of his points in the second half and securing 14 rebounds, including a key offensive rebound in overtime to help seal the win. Jones, KJ Helton '16 (8 points), Noah Fennell (8 points) and Zack Magill '16 combined to shoot 23-29 from the line in the second half.
It was the second consecutive game that the Aces feasted from the charity stripe. LM's size and depth appeared to wear down Shipley on Saturday. By the end of the game, three key Gators players had fouled out. The Aces shot bonus free throws for much of the second half.
This is the first time in the Gregg Downer era that an Aces team has played in three straight overtime games, let alone three straight overtime wins. LM started the week with a 62-61 triple-overtime victory against Penncrest on Tuesday. LM overcame an 11-point fourth quarter hole to beat Haverford 54-48 in overtime on Friday. And today, the Aces chipped away in the fourth quarter to tie the game late.
It looked like the Aces might win it at the end of regulation on a three-ball from Fennell that went in and out. But no matter, the Aces have been feeling generous of late. Tonight's special was yet another extra period and thrilling victory for Aces fans.
