Perhaps taking a cue from the ice storm that left many in our area without power this week, the Aces played lights out on Friday night in a 64-34 romp over Radnor.
Justin McFadden ?14 scored 13 of his game-high 18 points in the first quarter, setting the tone for one of the team?s most dominant performances of the 2013-14 campaign. All players on the roster saw action and nine entered the scoring column in the final game of the regular season.
After falling behind 8-2 in the early going, the Aces outscored the Raiders 35-8 in a first-half surge that put the game out of reach. Radnor would come no closer than 17 points the rest of the way. LM handed the Raiders -- winners of 13 of their last 16 games -- their largest margin of defeat this season, and limited them to a season-low in points.
Friday was Senior Night and the Aces honored their five seniors during a pre-game ceremony and by starting the quintet as a unit for the first time all season. Joining McFadden were Dave Baer, Adrian Levitt, Oliver Henry and JaQuan Johnson. All five saw significant action and Johnson and McFadden -- both three-year starters who have logged heavy minutes this season -- were able to celebrate their deserving classmates from the sidelines for much of the second half.
With the win, LM enters the Central League playoffs as the top seed at 14-2 and will take on #4 Harriton in a semifinal match-up on Sunday night at 7 PM at Ridley.
