The Aces used a 27-2 first half run to blow past Marple Newtown 82-58 on Tuesday night.
After falling behind by seven in the early going, LM righted the ship and pulled to within one at the end of the first quarter. Over the next four minutes, the Aces played perhaps their most spotless basketball of the season, scoring 21 unanswered points in a devastating avalanche that quickly buried the Tigers.
LM used a swarming, trapping defense to force seven Marple turnovers in the stretch and converted on seemingly every opportunity. LM received two treys from Corey Sherman ?15, one from Jones, one from Steve Pendleton ?15 and another from KJ Helton ?16 as well as driving layups from Jule Brown ?15, JaQuan Johnson ?14 and Justin McFadden ?14, who punctuated the run with a rim-rattling jam in transition.
Marple went on a mini-run to close the half down 40-28, but the damage had been done. The Aces extended their lead to as many as 30 points in the second half and coasted to victory.
With the win, LM clinched a spot in the Central League playoffs and improved their league mark to 11-2 on the season.
Five Aces reached double figures on the night, including Jones (17 points), Sherman (14 points), McFadden (13 points), Pendleton (12 points) and Brown (12 points).
Up next for LM is a showdown with Ridley on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at home.
