The Aces will face stiff competition during the 2011-12 campaign

Legendary Temple Owls coach John Chaney was known for challenging his teams with a brutal regular season schedule in an effort to prepare his team for any kind of foe. LM's head coach Gregg Downer has developed a similar mindset at the high school level. The Aces traditionally play one of the toughest schedules in District 1 and the 2011-12 campaign promises to be one of the most difficult to date.

The Aces open the season on Saturday, December 10th with a match-up against Catholic League juggernaut Roman Catholic at the Scholastic Play-by-Play/ Tip-Off Classic at Coatesville High School. On Saturday 12/17, the Aces take on perennial Maryland prep powerhouse McDonough in the Mid-Atlantic Showcase at Coatesville.

The Aces will host their first holiday tournament in nearly a decade on 12/27 and 12/28, an intriguing four-team affair featuring LM, Church Farm School, Calvert Hall (MD) and Emmaus High School. CFS, coached by LM alumnus Marc Turner, is the defending District 1 A champ. Calvert Hall is one of Baltimore's most storied and successful prep programs and Emmaus is a state-level contender from District 11.

LM concludes winter break with a 12/30 contest against fully-loaded St. Joseph's Prep, a team with serious state title aspirations. The game is part of the Jameer Nelson/ Classic at Widener University.

The Aces close out their non-league schedule with an exciting re-match against another state title contender -- Scranton -- LM's first-round opponent in last year's PIAA state playoffs. This year's contest will be played at LM as part of the Kobe Bryant Classic.

In addition to non-league play, the Aces once again face stiff competition in the talented Central League. LM opens league play on 12/13 at Strath Haven. The Aces' first home league game is Friday, 12/16 against Garnet Valley. LM plays in the large school division of the league and will face Conestoga, Garnet Valley, Haverford, Ridley and Upper Darby twice. Rounding out the schedule are individual contests with league foes Harriton, Marple Newtown, Penncrest, Springfield and Strath Haven.
