Dear Friends of Lower Merion Basketball,
Welcome back! The 2007-08 Aces make their public debut THIS FRIDAY NIGHT (11/30) at MAROON MADNESS in the Lower Merion Main Gym. The event begins at 7:30 PM as the girls take on Norristown in their season opener. Following the girls game, the boys varsity team will be introduced at a Maroon/White intrasquad scrimmage. Highlights will include prizes and giveaways, on-court contests for fans, special alumni appearances, music and limited edition t-shirts to fans who make a donation to Coaches V. Cancer. The DAWG POUND, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, will be on hand to help get the crowd jumping at what should be a very special event.
Special thanks to Huntington Learning Center of Bala Cynwyd for sponsoring the event and joining the Aces family as a corporate partner for the 2007-08 season.
Speaking of important milestones…
This year marks the final season of the historic Main Gym and the 100th anniversary of basketball at Lower Merion High School. Construction of the new Lower Merion High School, which will feature a state-of-the-art gymnasium, begins next Spring with opening anticipated for the Fall of 2010.
A number of events will mark this important milestone, including a reunion event tentatively scheduled for February 2 and the release of an Aces All-Century Team. Portions of the main gym floor, where Kobe Bryant, Jim Brogan, Sarah Lowe and hundreds of other Aces boys and girls basketball players capped their careers, will be offered at public auction later this year. The first home game is scheduled for Saturday, December 8th against Strath Haven. The final regular season home game in Main Gym history will be played Tuesday, January 29th against Penncrest.

The Aces' regular season debut is THURSDAY, DECEMBER 6 at SPRINGFIELD. Gametime is 7:30 PM.
For a program that regularly plays one of the toughest schedules in the state, the Aces have truly stacked the deck for 2007-08. The season promises to be one of the most exciting and challenging to date with a roster of non-league opponents that include:
It doesn't get any easier in league play, with the Central League returning four teams that reached the state playoffs last year. The Aces conclude the regular season with a showdown against one of those teams - Ridley - at Villanova on February 2nd. The team will also be involved in a double-header with Kobe Bryant & the Los Angeles Lakers, when they take on Marple Newtown at the Wachovia Center (AMAZING!) on Friday, December 21 following the Lakers/Sixers game. Tickets are available through the Lower Merion Athletic Office: (610) 645-1820.
