EARLY DEFENSIVE STAND SENDS ACES TO SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN

Radnor, PA -- In the early game of the Scholastic Play by Play Classic held at Archbishop Carroll, the Lower Merion Aces defended their way to their sixth straight victory with an impressive 39-26 victory over league foe Springfield. 

With the score tied at eight with 1:35 remaining in the first quarter, the Aces ran off 13 straight points over the next seven minutes and held the Cougars scoreless for the entire second period to take a commanding 21-8 lead into the locker room. In that quarter, sophomore Sheba Hall and senior Molly Hanlon each led the Aces with four points apiece. 

Hall, named MVP of the tournament game, led the Aces with a game-high 13 points, four steals, three rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot. Hanlon added eight points while fellow classmate Amy Woods chipped in seven points and 11 rebounds for Lower Merion.

With the victory, the Aces improve to 13-1 on the season (10-0 CL) while Springfield drops to 15-2 on the season and 9-2 in conference action. LM will look to keep their winning ways alive when they face West Chester Henderson in a non-league contest on Tuesday evening. Game-time is set for 7:30 PM in West Chester, PA.
