Greg Robbins '09 led the Aces with a career-high 30 points against Souderton
By Steve Mandelbaum
The Aces rose to the occasion Tuesday evening, overcoming a late third quarter deficit to defeat Suburban One powerhouse Souderton in the Norristown Triangle Club Tournament, 69-67. The Aces held a slim first quarter advantage and eventually found themselves trailing the Indians by seven points after the third. As they did on Monday evening, the Aces fought their way back into the contest. This time, however, the Aces managed to tie the game, take the lead, and eventually hold onto it for the victory.
Senior Greg Robbins carried the team on both ends of the foor, scoring a career-high 30 points and providing lockdown defense when assigned to Souderton sniper and D1 prospect Jim Connolly late in the fourth quarter. Alon Seltzer followed his breakout game on Monday with another career high performance, netting 27 points. Sophomore guard Matt McKenna came off of the bench to provide a spark in the fourth quarter, making two key steals that led to two LM scores. Senior Mike Joseph scored a career-high six points and played solid interior defense. Senior Marquise Hall turned in another fine floor game.
After a tumultuous start to the season, LM has won five of its last six heading into the New Year. The Aces are off until Tuesday, January 6th, when they square off against Central League foe Strath Haven at Bala Cynwyd Middle School; game time is 7:30 PM.
