Hip-hop icon, streetball legend, pro baller, DJ, author, actor, and Aces alum Bobbito Garcia '84 aka DJ Cucumberslice was back in school last week to speak with students and run some ball in the main gym. Bobbito is the host of ESPN's "It's the Shoes," a Vibe magazine columnist and is the editor in chief of Bounce Magazine, a quarterly devoted to streetball. He's also the voice of NBA Street Volumes 2 and 3.

Bobbito spoke to a crowd of more than 100 in the auditorium and shared some of his life stories as well as video highlights of his career, including the famous Nike freestyle and Rucker Park tv ads.

He also shared a picture from his playing days at LM (he wore #43 on the '84 Central League title team).

Seniors Garrett Williamson, Arian Thompson, Ryan Brooks, Ernest Moore and Malik Curry welcomed Bobbito as part of their senior project, which includes reconnecting with Aces alumni.

Following his presentation, Bobbito returned to the main gym with the Aces players to run pick-up on his old court - for more than an hour he showed his skills and had some fun workin' out with the young bulls. He donated several of his publications and DVDs, including a ballhandling/skill development video "Basics to Boogie" to the school and promised to come back and visit soon, before heading back to NYC (with a quick stop at the ABC House, his home away from home as an LMHS student).
