After dominating Delaware's top teams at the Bay Ball Classic, the Aces returned to Central League play last night hoping to carry over the success of their winter tournament. They accomplished their goal, beating Penncrest 46-27.
LM came out strong, taking a 14-6 lead and never looked back. Greg Robbins (13 points, four rebounds, four steals), Carl Johnson (12 points, four steals) and Eric Stahler (8 points, three rebounds, three steals) paced the Aces attack. Defense was key as the Aces held the Lions to single digit scoring in all four quarters. Strong rebounding by Andrew King and Alon Seltzer (five rebounds each) gave the Aces a host of second chance opportunities.
The Aces extended a seven point halftime lead to double-digits early in the second half and pushed the margin to 20 in the fourth. The highlight of the game came in the third quarter as Robbins stole the ball in a half-court trap and hit Johnson on the break. The Aces' guard elevated through the lane and threw it down for his first career dunk (See video section on aceshoops.com to watch the play.) Once again, every member of the team saw court time.
The Aces stay in the Central League with their next game at home against Radnor on Saturday at 7:30. Radnor is 1-6 in the Central League and 3-8 overall.
