Sophomore Eric Stahler scored 15 points to lead a balanced attack as the Maroon and White held on to defeat Lancaster McCaskey 54-49 in the opening round of the Eastern Pennsylvania Tipoff Classic at Parkland. The Aces led by as many as 17 in the third quarter before McCaskey stormed back on a barrage of fourth quarter threes by super-soph Andre Patterson.
Joining Stahler in the scoring column were Eric Barefield (11), Carl Johnson (10), Greg Robbins (8), Kevin Escott (6), Ben Lucas (3) and adam Ellison (1). Stahler scored on an array of moves including a nifty baseline drive in the closing seconds to seal the game.
With the win, the Aces advance to the tournament final where they will play the winner of Parkland v. McCaskey. Gametime is 7:30 PM Saturday.
