For the sixth consecutive game, the Aces held their opponent to fewer than 50 points. And for the sixth consecutive game, the Aces earned a victory. The Maroon & White rallied from a three-point halftime deficit to down Radnor 49-42 on Tuesday night, keyed by an aggressive second-half defensive effort and solid free-throw shooting. Junior Steve Meehan and sophomore Eric Stahler (12 points apiece) led a balanced Aces' attack that saw the return of sophomore Harley Williamson, who finished with six points in his first varsity game. Sophomore Greg Robbins chipped in with 7 points and secured the back line of the Aces' defense with a season-high eight blocked shots. Seniors Eric Barefield (10 points) and Adam Ellison (2 points) also scored.
After trailing 21-18 at the break, the Aces opened the third on a 13-3 run highlighted by a driving Barefield layup and three-pointers by Meehan and Stahler. All three players helped to ignite the team's perimeter defense, providing heavy ball pressure and forcing four turnovers during the run. The Aces led by as many as 12 early in the fourth and held on down the stretch.
Despite the welcome return of Williamson, the Aces were again forced to contend without the services of several key players, including Kevin Escott, Ben Lucas and Carl Johnson. The Aces (10-3, 5-3) return to action on Thursday night at 7:30 PM against league rival Ridley.
