Aces down Marple, prepare for Penncrest

#40: Greg Robbins ’09 attacks the rim in the Aces’ 62-41 win against Marple


The Aces moved to 15-6 (10-5 CL) on the season with a convincing 62-41 win against Marple Newtown on Tuesday night. Senior point guard Eric Barefield notched a season high nine assists to go along with 11 points and five steals in a strong all-around effort. Nine Aces scored on the night, including Greg Robbins (13 points), Carl Johnson (9 points), Kevin Escott (9 points, 7 rebounds), Steve Meehan (8 points), Harley Williamson (4 points), Ben Lucas (3 points), Adam Ellison (2 points) and Alon Seltzer (2 points). The Maroon & White defense allowed only four first quarter points by the Tigers and headed to the halftime break up 28-12. The Aces forced 21 Marple turnovers.

A healthy Tuesday night Dawg Pound crowd was on hand for the game, including fan extraordinaire Greg “Smooth” Stanczak. The effervescent alum has dropped more than 100 lbs. in the last 5 months in an effort to get back to his original playing weight of 190.

The Aces return to action on Friday night at Penncrest. Tip-off is 7:30 PM.
