Lower Merion High School's 12th Annual Maroon Madness benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer is set for this Friday, December 2 at 7 PM. The event – which serves as a community pep rally for winter athletics and activities – begins at 6:00 PM with a tailgate party in front of Bryant Gymnasium featuring food, music and live entertainment. At 7 PM, Aces Nation will head into the gym for the evening’s basketball festivities and a line-up of special guests and performances.
Program highlights include the introduction of the boys and girls teams, an intra-squad scrimmage, student dances, on-court fan contests, musical entertainment and raffles for Nike gear and autographed merchandise. The Aces will welcome St. Joe’s Coach Phil Martelli for a message about the fight against cancer and honor Darryl Reynolds ’12 of the 2016 National Champion Villanova Wildcats. Admission is a $5 donation to Coaches vs. Cancer. T-shirts and food will also be available.
Following the on-court festivities will be a musical performance by a surprise guest artist/LM alumnus and major recording artist.
Nearly 1,000 community members attended last year’s event, which serves as the official start to Lower Merion’s winter athletics season and the school’s annual Coaches vs. Cancer fundraising drive. The Lower Merion community has raised more than $50,000 in the past five years to benefit cancer research.
