The Aces jumped out to an 11-2 lead and never looked back in a 59-46 victory at Upper Darby on Thursday night. KJ Helton ’16 led all scorers with 24 points. Steve Pendleton ’15 finished with 12 points and six steals. Twelve players saw the floor for the Maroon & White.
The Aces held the Royals to just 16 first-half points as they amassed an 11-point halftime lead. LM exploded on a 7-0 run to start the third quarter, highlighted by one of Helton’s four treys and an Asher Barry ’15 end-to-end drive and finish. LM led by as much as 20 in the frame, but a late Royals run cut the margin to 15 at 45-30.
Upper Darby took advantage of the Aces’ sluggish play in the closing minutes to cut the margin to eight at the 2:02 mark, but LM closed the door on a Corey Sherman ’15 (11 points) three-pointer and free throws by Helton, Pendleton and Sherman.
With the win, the Aces’ record improves to 10-4, (8-1 Central League). LM returns to action on Saturday night at 7:30 PM at home against Springfield in the final game of the Kobe Bryant/Rally Classic.
