JaQuan Johnson '14 scored 17 points in the Aces' win against Garnet Valley.

The Aces used a 25-12 second quarter to pull away from host Garnet Valley and cruised to a 67-51 win on Tuesday night. LM shot a blistering 60% for the game, keyed by an efficient transition attack.

JaQuan Johnson ’14 had 17 points to lead all scorers. Johnson opened the game with a trey and gave the Aces their first double-digit cushion with a steal and layup early in the second quarter. Justin McFadden ’14 followed his career night against Upper Darby with a 16-point, 12-rebound effort. Steve Pendleton ’15 chipped in with 12 points, including two treys during the Aces’ second quarter surge.

Up 37-23 at half, LM extended the lead to 48-28 mid-way through the third period on three-pointer by Corey Sherman ’15 (8 points). The Aces led by as many as 25 early in the fourth before a last gasp by a gritty Garnet Valley squad cut the gap in the closing minutes.

The Aces relied heavily on their bench throughout much of the game, receiving key contributions from KJ Helton ’16, Oliver Henry ’14 and Adrian Levitt ’14. Jule Brown ’15 (6 points) shot a perfect 4-4 from the line.

With the victory, the Aces improve to 6-2 in league play and extend their win streak to five games.

LM returns to action Thursday night at home with a match-up against Springfield. The much-improved Cougars fell in overtime to Upper Darby on Tuesday night.
