Mike Capkin '11 scored seven points in the Aces' big win

The Aces blasted an overmatched Garnet Valley squad 77-32 on Friday night. LM used relentless pressure and a lightning transition game to build a 49-14 halftime lead. Though they didn't press for the entire second half, the Aces continued to play hard and hungry, with the bench seeing much of the action. BJ Johnson '13 led a balanced attack with 14 points.

The story of the game was the performance of Aces reserve guard Mike Capkin '11, who scored his first varsity points after nearly 18 months recovering from two serious injuries and regaining his basketball legs. Capkin drilled two consecutive threes in the second half after knocking down a free throw to officially break into the Aces record books.  For those who have followed Capkin's long, difficult journey, it was an inspiring moment that brought fans in the Bryant Gymnasium to their feet. Countless hours of rehabilitation, incredible courage and resolve and an unyielding commitment to doing whatever it takes to wear the Maroon & White marked Capkin's stirring comeback.

The Aces cap their weekend with a match-up against top-ranked city power Simon Gratz at the Kobe Bryant Classic.
