Darius Hall '11 scored seven points and had a key steal to help the Aces pull away from the Royals on Tuesday night

The Aces completed their first regular season sweep over Upper Darby since 2005 with a 53-43 win against the Royals on Tuesday night.
After jumping out to a 14-3 first quarter lead, it appeared the Aces were headed for a comfortable victory. But as is often the case in this longstanding Central League rivalry, nothing comes easy. The Royals battled back to draw within two at halftime and took a brief one-point lead in the second half before the Aces put the clamps on and pulled away in the fourth quarter. Darius Hall '11 (7 points, 2 rebounds) played a pivotal role in the Aces' decisive run, coming up with a key steal and layup and nailing two bonus free throws in the final frame.
The senior trio of Alon Seltzer '10 (17 points), Oliver Cohen '10 (12 points, 6 assists) and Aaron Staley (11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks) paced the Aces' attack. Also scoring were Hall, Mike Buchwald '11 (2 points), Matt McKenna '11 (2 points) and David Ancona-Cole (2 points).
Staley had the defensive play of the game, coming from the weak side and soaring above the rim to reject an Upper Darby jumper midway through the fourth quarter.
The Dawg Pound had another outstanding turnout despite this week being mid-term week at Lower Merion.
Next up for the Aces is a trip to Garnet Valley on Friday night. Gametime is 7:30 PM.
