David Ancona-Cole '10 and the Aces used strong defense to top Garnet Valley 48-28
The Aces notched a convincing 48-28 win over Garnet Valley in their home opener Thursday. Defense was the theme of the night. LM limited the Jaguars to just ten first-half points and have yet to allow more than ten points in a quarter through the first two games.

Conor Foote '10 ignited the Aces' offense with a three-pointer to start the game and LM would never look back, extending the margin to double digits by the end of the 2nd quarter. Nine Aces entered the scoring column, with Oliver Cohen '10 (10 points) leading a balanced attack. David Ancona-Cole '10 provided the first-half offensive highlight, with a beautiful spin-move off a post-feed from Matt McKenna '11 (7 points, 4 assists).

In the second-half, the Aces built on their lead thanks to three-pointers from Luke Chambers '11 (3 points, 4 rebounds) and Mike Robbins '12 (7 points) and solid interior play from Aaron Staley '11 (7 points). McKenna provided a defensive spark, jumping the passing lanes for three steals.

Xavion Walls '09 netted his first career varsity points on a nifty put-back of an offensive rebound and also had a highlight reel feed to Mike Block '09 for a driving layup.

The Aces take on Conestoga Saturday night at 7:30 PM at Bala Cynwyd as part of the Make-A-Wish/Hoops for Hope Holiday Classic presented by Vitamin Water. The annual event, organized by the Aces' girls program draws premier girls teams from the area. This is the first year that a boys' game will be part of the two-day lineup of events.
