Greg Robbins '09 knocks down a three in the Aces' win on Friday night
The Aces used stifling defense and an efficient offensive attack to earn a 44-30 victory against Garnet Valley on Friday night. Greg Robbins led Lower Merion with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Alon Seltzer (13 pts), Matt McKenna (8 pts), Oliver Cohen (3 pts) and Mike Joseph (2 pts) rounded out the scoring. Robbins punctuated the evening with an emphatic slam dunk after a steal in the 2nd quarter.
Vince Weldon and Nick Bibbs set the tone defensively, coming up with a number of steals and hustle plays on the perimeter.  Bibbs provided a highlight reel moment when he dove headfirst into the scorer’s table in an effort to save a loose ball; the play ultimately led to an Aces basket. Weldon led the Aces with four steals.
The Aces held the Jaguars to three single-digit quarters in the first-ever match-up between the two squads. Garnet Valley is new to the Central League this year.
The Aces’ next game is Monday night at 7:30 PM against Conestoga in the home opener at Bala Cynwyd Middle School.
