Harley Williamson '08 scored 18 points in the Aces' season opener
Playing without the services of several key players, an injury-depleted Lower Merion squad faced an uphill climb in their season opener. The Aces battled, but ultimately succumbed 66-52 to a talented Parkland squad in Allentown. LM surged to a 17-10 first quarter advantage, but could not sustain the lead in the 2nd half. The Trojans, a serious state contender from District 11, used their home-court edge and got to the free throw line nearly 40 times on the evening. Despite serious foul trouble and cold shooting, the Aces kept the margin of deficit in the single digits until late in the contest; free throws sealed the final outcome. Greg Robbins contributed 17 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Harley Williamson led all scorers with 18 points. Oliver Cohen and Mike Joseph, making their first career varsity starts, notched six points and four points, respectively. Alon Seltzer (5 pts) and Aaron Staley (2 pts) rounded out the scoring. The Aces return to action on Tuesday night with a Central League contest at Upper Darby. Tip-off is 7:30 PM.
