Head Coach Gregg Downer has been named the 2006 PA Coach of the Year by the AP, an annual honor determined by a poll of high school sportswriters in Pennsylvania. Downer led the Aces (28-6) to the 2006 State Championship, his 2nd title and 3rd State Finals appearance in 16 years at the helm. During the past 10 years, Downer's teams have earned seven Central League titles, have made six State appearances, have advanced to the District Final 4 five times, including four District Finals. The Aces' State Playoff record in that span is a gaudy 15-4.

Also receiving accolades by the AP were seniors Garrett Williamson and Ryan Brooks, who earned All-State recognition. This is the first time in more than 60 years that two Aces players have made the All-State team in the same season. (Greer Heindel and Harry Middleton accomplished the feat in 1942.) Williamson was named 1st Team all-state for the 2nd consecutive year - both players also earned 1st Team All-Central League honors.
